Day 16 - A song that makes you cry (or nearly)

As a massive Blink 182 song, this song breaks my heart for obvious reasons

I know I probably should like Jedward, being Irish and all... but I just... don't!!
What songs make you want to cry?

NOTD: Uptown

I popped into Superdrug when I was in London and was immediately drawn to the NYC counter. I loved all the pretty colours but decided to allow myself to get one polish only because I was worried it would be taken off me at the airport. Anyways, I selected Uptown (# 242B) which is a beautiful pink colour that I wear almost every weekend!!
This colour is absolutely beautiful... but it is a little warmer in real life than in these photos - flash ruins everything!! These photos were taken after two coats, but I normally only wear one coat. I find that this polish lasts for a few days without chipping, with no top coat, it goes on easily and evenly, and it dries really quickly. Love it!
ps: please excuse how disgraceful the skin around my nails looks - my hands got totally wrecked at work, but I'm getting a manicure tomorrow!!

Day 15 - A fanfic

I have never read any fanfic and I didn't actually know what is was until I tried to answer this question!! I'm not gonna attempt to answer this, so, instead, here are some pictures of elephants...

I ♥♥ elephants!

Do you read fanfic? Can you recommend any?

Day 14 - A non-fictional book

"Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl" was my favourite non-fictional book growing up. Last winter I visited Amsterdam with my friends, and we paid a visit to Anne Frank's "house" where her family hid for years - it was incredibly interesting, but also terribly sad. If you haven't read this book, I seriously recommend it.

Here are two photos of the (now commercial) outside of her house - cameras were not allowed inside...

Day 13 - A fictional book

After Harry Potter, my favourite fictional books are the Southern Vampire Mysteries, on which True Blood is based. The first 10 books have been released and there are more to come!!

Check them out, if you haven't already!!

Day 10 - A photo of you taken over 10 years ago

This photo was taken about 20 years ago, when I was two! My parents have it hanging up in our kitchen because it makes us all laugh... I love it

Do you have any funny photos of you as a child?

Day 8 - A photo that makes you angry/sad

Animal testing is horrendous and should be illegal. It is sick. Some companies that test on animals are L'Oreal, Max Factor, Procter & Gamble, Garnier and Clairol. For a list of makeup companies that test on animals, you can check out PETA or the Caring Consumer website
What makes you angry?

Review: Grease Lightning Spot Treatment

In my strive for perfect skin (for graduation) I have been trying out Lush's Grease Lightning Tea Tree Spot Treatment
Made from natural ingredients, this product is suitable for vegetarians and vegans (and those with sensitive skin) - it was recommended for me based on this description of my skin: "Combination-Oily skin, with a tendency to get several small spots on my chin and sometimes on my nose"
Two pumps of this would provide you with plenty of product to coat a full face of flaws. One pump is perfectly sufficient to deal with a problematic t-zone like mine. The product is a gel-like consistency and smells yummily of tea tree.

As for its affectivity, one blob of gel on a problem area and the redness dissipates almost immediately, leaving a minor blemish that heals over night.

Warning: be careful when pumping, you don't want to waste this product and it shoots out of the bottle very quickly.

Rating: 9/10

Graduation Garb

With graduation being less than two weeks away, I had left things to the last minute and was under pressure to find the right outfit... thankfully, I had a very lucky weekend and found the perfect outfit
Dress - Monsoon, €115
Shoes - Dune, €108
Bag - Accessorize, €51

Fingers crossed I don't fall over in those stilettos, that would not be very elegant!!

Day 7 - A photo that makes you happy

I took this photo in Paris, when I was living there, of the Notre Dame Cathedral. It reminds me of the time I spent in France and all the wonderful friends I made there and it always makes me smile

Day 5 - Your favourite quote

This was easy... I first heard this G. K. Chesterton quote on Criminal Minds, and absolutely love it:

"Fairy Tales are more than true... not because they tell us that dragons exist, but because they tell us that dragons can be beaten"

What's your favourite quote?

Mypure Parcel # 3

The friendly folks over at MyPure were listening to our (and your) concerns that blogs would be swamped with identical reviews every month and that people would start to get fed up. This month, we each got a few products that were specific to our hair and skin types.

I submitted the following information to MyPure:
Skin Type: Oily/Combination
Skin Tone: Warm
Hair Type: Dry and Damaged (but gets greasy quickly)
Hair Length: Medium/Long

If you have similar skin and hair types, then stay tuned for upcoming reviews of these products:

This product is recommended for people with oily/combination skin and works well for those with sensitive skin or acne too.
This is for "normal" hair that has been damaged, both naturally (sun, wind) and unnaturally (heat damage, chemical treatments)

Living Nature Balancing Natural Shampoo and Conditioner
These products are created for people with oily, combination hair.
I'm so excited to try these products out!!

Please note: I was sent these products free of charge, but was not compensated for this review. All opinions expressed are my own - they are completely honest and unbiased. I am not affiliated with any of the above mentioned companies.
